- MEXA-6000FT-E series measures concentrations of multiple gaseous species in the engine exhaust using the Fourier Transform infrared (FTIR) method in combination with a multivariate analysis algorithm.
- It applies to various applications, such as evaluation of nitrogen components in catalyst development. The new MEXA-6000FT-E meets the NH3 testing requirements for the next EU regulation for heavy duty emission, Euro (draft), and measures NH3 and 30 other non-regulated emission species, simultaneously.
- Fourier transform infrared spectrometry (FTIR) is a method for obtaining infrared absorption spectrum of high resolution by a combination of an interferometer and high speed Fourier transformation. Since lots of components have their unique spectrum in the infrared region, this method is used for quantitative and qualitative determination in various fields.
- Infrared light radiated from a light source becomes an interference light, passes through the cell in which sample gas is flowing, and then enters the detector. The spectrum of the infrared light that pass the cell can be obtained by converting the signal obtained here by means of fast Fourier transformation.
- For qualitative and quantitative analysis, the power spectrum in a case where a zero gas is flowing in the cell is separately measure, and the infrared absorption spectrum for the sample gas is calculated from the proportion of the both spectra.
- The spectrum obtained is the superposition of spectra of multiple components that show absorbance in the mid infrared region.
